SO Academy At Marrowstone


Applications for the Seattle Opera Academy at Marrowstone are now open.

There are four components to the online application. Application requirements will include the following items:

  1. Basic information and your Performance Resume or CV
  2. References
  3. Video audition 
  4. Application fee ($80 after March 17, 2017)

For more detailed information on the requirements, expand the sections below.


  • Your two references should be from instructors (voice teachers, ensemble directors, stage directors, technical directors, etc).
  • Once you provide your references’ contact information, Seattle Opera will send them the link where they can complete the reference form.


Auditions will be accepted via YouTube only. Your audition should include an introduction, one aria or art song in English, and two contrasting arias or art songs in languages of your choosing.

  • Video 1 – Introduction: Name, the city you are from, and the pieces you will be singing
    Video Title: “Full Name: Introduction”
  • Video 2 – English Selection
    Video Title: “Full Name, Title of Selection, Composer”
  • Video 3 – 2nd Selection
    Video Title: “Full Name, Title of Selection, Composer”
  • Video 4 – 3rd Selection
    Video Title: “Full Name, Title of Selection, Composer”

All videos must be uploaded to YouTube with the privacy set to “Unlisted.”

Links should be copied into the online application in the corresponding fields.

Videos should not exceed 4 minutes in length and be unedited. The quality of the audio is extremely important. Consider renting or borrowing a professional quality camera and microphone to record your audition.

  • May 1, 2017 – Acceptance
  • May 17, 2017 – Tuition Deposit ($300) & Damage Deposit ($250) Due
  • July 1, 2017 – Full tuition and Acceptance Packet
  • July 16, 2017 – Academy Begins
  • August 6, 2017 – Festival Concludes
